Manual and Automatic Free Wheel Hubs (Classic MAP type)

MAP (Mayflower Automotive Products Ltd, from Tavistock, Devon) Free Wheel Hubs were the first type approved by Land-Rover back in in 1962.

MAP also produced the Automatic FWH from the mid 60's.

Fairey Winches Ltd (a subsidiary of Fairey Aviation Company) continued to manufacture the MAP types up until the early 70's along with Overdrives and winches.

These hubs are one of the most popular used on Land-Rover, sold on two different versions for the 10 and 24 spline axles either on Manual or Automatic.

The purpose of the FWH is to “unlock” the front wheels from their axles, so when using only rear traction, the front axles and differential are not in use at all, achieving fuel and wear saving…

These Hubs are completely remanufactured with many new parts and are available by order from us, as they are no longer produced.
